My labor & delivery story

Hi everyone! I created this blog to log and share my experiences as a new mother. Because I am a new mother I know how unsure one can be when it comes to parenting. Reading other mommy blogs was something that had helped me fine tune my parenting skills, and I wanted to share my story and add to the community of blogging moms.

My son was born January 24, 2014; weighing 6lbs 14oz and 19 3/4 inches long. My labor began at 4:05 a.m. I woke to use the bathroom (quite normal for being 39 weeks pregnant) and a large gush of amniotic fluid occurred. I called my mom and gave her the news. We then called Jake's sister (Jake being my significant other) and she drove us to the hospital. Because of the constant stream of fluid they admitted me right away. My contractions started hard and heavy once we were in the hospital. I progressed to 7cm before requesting an epidural. The medicine only worked on my right side until I was 9cm and requested that they fix it. After that I was able to rest before it came time to push. At 1:30pm the doctor came in to confirm that it was time to push. In less then 30 minutes my beautiful baby boy was born at 1:59pm. We named him Braydon Patrick James; after my father and Jake's grandfather.
